Bowlegged

The Hip Adductor/Abductor machines feel to be very effective 2 days after using them and I appear to be bowlegged today. Saturday was a personal workout day. Instead of taking classes, I did an hour of cardio on machines (elliptical and stairclimber) and then 45 minutes of strength training. You’d think with all the classes I do that I’ve targeted every muscle. Oh no, there are definitely parts of my back, abs, and legs that I haven’t felt in a while. I’ve also found that the push up is a very efficient exercise (but it’s not one of my favorites). If done correctly, you can activate all your upper body muscles, your abs, glutes, and even quads. The plank also seems to have a similar effect, although more heavily concentrated on the core, where the push up concentrates more on the upper body.
That means 2 sessions of strength training last week. Although I mentioned in my New Year’s Resolutions that I would “lift more weights”, it’s actually wanting to do more strength training, as I do a lot of exercises (lunges, squats, push ups, core work) that do not require me to “lift” any weights. To supplement my efforts, I’ve been using Arbonne’s Figure 8 Go Easy! Chocolate Protein shakes. I love these things! I was a big fan of Muscle Milk, but the Arbonne version is much better tasting. They’re great post-workout drinks, and also quick and easy breakfasts. On days that I work out, I probably drink it 2x a day, once in the morning and once post-workout to replenish. I’m looking forward to getting my Detox Tea and will soon order some of the other products to support my healthy living efforts.
